ServiceNow Advisory Services

Architecture and roadmap guidance for platform owners: what to build, what to retire, what order to do it in, and what it will take.

What it is

Advisory is for the decisions that get made once and constrain everything after them. Which service model do we adopt. Do we extend the platform or integrate to it. How do we govern demand so the backlog stops being a wish list. Where does ownership of CMDB data actually sit.

We work alongside your architects rather than over them. The output is a set of decisions with the reasoning attached, and a sequenced roadmap that accounts for the capacity you really have — not the capacity an ideal plan assumes.

Who it is for

  • Enterprise and platform architects who need a second opinion with scar tissue behind it
  • Programs where the backlog has outgrown any clear sense of priority
  • Organizations standing up a platform governance or center of excellence function
  • Leaders preparing a multi-year platform investment case for a steering committee

What is included

The deliverables below are the default scope. We adjust them to your situation during scoping and confirm the final list in writing.

Current-state architecture assessment

How the platform is configured today, where it diverges from a maintainable baseline, and what that divergence costs you.

Target architecture and data model

Service model, CSDM domain alignment, portfolio structures, and the integration landscape you are aiming at.

Sequenced roadmap

Initiatives grouped into waves with dependencies, rough effort bands and the decisions that must land before each wave starts.

Governance model

Demand intake, design authority, release cadence, and who signs off on what — written as a working operating model, not a policy binder.

Executive briefing

A short deck and narrative your leadership can act on, including the trade-offs we recommend you accept.

Process and timeline

Indicative timings for a typical engagement of this type. Your scope, environment and availability of stakeholders will move them.

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Discovery

Instance review, document review and interviews across platform, process and business stakeholders.

  2. Weeks 2–4

    Analysis and options

We frame the real choices, with the cost and risk of each, instead of presenting a single answer.

  3. Weeks 4–5

    Decision workshops

Facilitated sessions where your people make the calls and we record them with the rationale.

  4. Weeks 5–6

    Roadmap and handover

Final architecture, roadmap and governance pack, plus an executive readout.

Outcomes we aim for

These are the goals we design the engagement around. They are objectives, not guarantees, and the result depends on decisions and effort on your side as much as ours.

  • Decisions on record, so the same debate does not reopen every quarter
  • A roadmap sized against real delivery capacity
  • Less rework caused by building before the data model was settled
  • A governance routine your team can run without an external facilitator

Questions

About servicenow advisory services

How is advisory different from your consulting service?

Advisory decides and sequences; consulting builds. Many clients use advisory first and then bring us in to deliver part of the roadmap, but the two are priced and scoped separately so you are free to build with anyone.

Will you recommend software we have to buy?

Only if the functional gap genuinely requires it, and we will say plainly what the alternative is. We receive no compensation from any vendor for a recommendation.

How long does a typical advisory engagement run?

Four to eight weeks for a focused scope. Larger multi-domain architecture work can run longer, and we would break that into phases with a decision point between them.

Is servicenow advisory services the right next step?

Tell us the symptom rather than the solution. If a different service fits better — or none of ours does — we will say so.
