ServiceNow Audit

A structured review of configuration, data quality, licensing posture and technical debt, with findings ranked by what they actually cost you.

What it is

An audit answers a question most platform owners cannot answer confidently: what is actually in our instance, and which parts of it are a problem?

We review configuration, customization, CMDB and CSDM data quality, integration health, role and access design, performance indicators and license alignment. Then we rank findings by impact rather than by how easy they are to fix, so you can argue for the right remediation budget rather than the convenient one.

Who it is for

  • New platform owners who inherited an instance and its history
  • Organizations preparing for a major upgrade or a new module
  • Teams whose CMDB is distrusted by the people who depend on it
  • Leaders who need an independent view before committing to a large platform investment

What is included

The deliverables below are the default scope. We adjust them to your situation during scoping and confirm the final list in writing.

Findings register

Every issue with evidence, affected area, risk rating and the cost of leaving it alone.

CMDB and CSDM data quality report

Completeness, correctness, relationship integrity, orphaned and duplicate records, reconciliation and normalization gaps, and discovery coverage.

Customization and technical debt inventory

What has been customized, what it blocks at upgrade time, and what could be retired in favor of platform capability.

Security and access review

Role design, elevated access, ACL patterns and integration credentials, at a configuration level.

Prioritized remediation plan

Quick wins, structural fixes and strategic changes, each with a rough effort band.

Process and timeline

Indicative timings for a typical engagement of this type. Your scope, environment and availability of stakeholders will move them.

  1. Week 1

    Read-only access and scoping

We request read-only access to a sub-production clone where possible, and agree the scope boundaries in writing.

  2. Weeks 1–3

    Automated and manual analysis

Platform health data, configuration review, data quality queries and stakeholder interviews.

  3. Week 3

    Validation

We walk findings past your admins before they are final, so nothing lands as a surprise.

  4. Week 4

    Report and readout

Written report, prioritized plan and a session with both technical and executive audiences.

Outcomes we aim for

These are the goals we design the engagement around. They are objectives, not guarantees, and the result depends on decisions and effort on your side as much as ours.

  • A defensible, evidence-backed picture of platform health
  • A remediation plan you can fund in stages
  • Fewer upgrade surprises, because the debt is known before you start
  • A CMDB improvement path with measurable checkpoints

Questions

About servicenow audit

Is this a license audit?

We review license alignment — whether your entitlement matches how the platform is being used — but we are not acting for ServiceNow and this is not an official license true-up. For contractual questions, work with your account team.

How much of our time does it take?

Expect a handful of interviews and some access coordination. Most of the work happens on our side, against a clone where one is available.

What does a typical audit cost?

It scales with instance size and scope. Contact us for pricing after a short scoping call.

Is servicenow audit the right next step?

Tell us the symptom rather than the solution. If a different service fits better — or none of ours does — we will say so.
